BIODIVERSITY

Biodiversity is something that we hear often, especially in science. It is a contracted term for "biological diversity". Biodiversity is composed of multiple types of living organisms on earth that cooperates with each other in order to survive and to maintain the balance of nature. Biodiversity is important because without it, the society would never work.

For example different species in marine biodiversity produce and decompose different organic materials. High diversity of species maintains balance in the ecosystem.

It provides social benefits, such as :
  • Recreation and tourism
  • Cultural value
  • Education and research
  • Food supply
  • Clothing
  • Shelter

Health benefits :
  • Water
  • Medicine

Industrial materials :
  • Oils
  • Fibres
  • Textiles
  • Dyes
